President’s Report 2015

The end of 2015 season draws to an end and with it comes the end of my time as the President of the West Gippsland Veterans Golfers Association.

As always there’s usually is a lot of speeches and thank-yous, so I’ll make mine as short as possible. Thanks to my secretary Bill Estrada; my captain Earl Lansdown, my treasurer Cliff Jamieson. These people make the Association work and they had me put up with for the last 4 years.

Only one more thank you and that is to ALL YOU MEMBERS as the association always treated me with respect through those 4 years.

The oncoming president for 2016 Mr Jim Murdoch I wish all the best.

Thank you

Brian Jones, President.

Treasurer’s Report 2015

It is again a pleasure to report on the success of this year in our financial position. We now have just one district sponsor, Martin & Sharon Clements from the On Course Golf Shop.

This sponsorship is very important to the Veteran’s Association and I ask if you would support our sponsor whenever you can.

Parmaker still support the Victoria Veteran Golfers by printing our yearly fixture books and the VVGA use the Parmaker Web Site to provide news to all Veteran Golfers throughout Victoria.

Thanks to John Moulton and Earl  Lansdown for setting up results computer and printer. Trophies seem to be generally well received and I haven’t received any complaints this year.

Generally the prizes presented are well above the amount I am allowed to spend i.e. $45 for first prize (x3  A. B & C grades), $30 for second  x3 and $15 for third x3. That’s $270 per meeting.

Thanks to all the Delegates for your terrific support during the year. Your efforts have been most appreciated and I suspect that most members don’t know the extent of work that goes into the running of an event at your club. Delegates  have to organise starters, catering, course setup, nearest-the-pins etc. and I am  very relieved every time that we have an event at just how well everything comes together.

Thanks to all those helpers who assist the delegates as well. I would also like to thank President Spike Jones, Captain Earl Lansdown, Secretary Bill Estrada, Councillor  VVGA John Moulton Victorian State Secretary George Thorne and the rest of the committee for their valued support throughout the  year.

We have approximately $4100 in our account at the end of our financial year (our financial year ends on 18th November each year). If you have any queries  about our finances please feel free to ask.

It has been an absolute pleasure to have served as your Treasurer over the past few years, the experience has been very rewarding. Getting to know the members of this district is the big plus in this job and I have made a lot of friends over the years and I would like to thank everybody for the good fun and fellowship we  enjoy playing in the Vets. I wish the West Gippsland Veterans Golfers Association all the very best in 2016.

A motion to increase the competition fee to $20 for the 2015 year was presented by George Thorne. The motion also included a clause to prevent any further increases for a 3 year period.
Chris Brown moved that the clause making reference to the 3 year application of the increase be deleted as a new committee may see a need to revise fees in the future. This motion was seconded by Max Younger- Carried
The modified motion to increase the competition fee to $20 for the 2015 year was presented by George Thorne and seconded by Cliff Jamieson- Carried
Any Other Business
Brian Symons raised the issue of the draw as the clashes with Tuesday completion at Traralgon is contributing to the low attendance to the Vets events as in 2014 there were 5 events scheduled on Tuesdays. The 2015 schedule has already been developed and events have been booked with the different clubs, however the committee needs to take into account the concern for subsequent years.
The large travelling distances to attend events was raised as a potential issue preventing better attendances to the Vets events and a suggestion to split the region into 2 areas and schedule concurrent events based on geographical location. This suggestion was extensively discussed but the challenges to schedule 2 concurrent events and the failure of West Gippsland pennant to implement a similar idea made this suggestion difficult to implement.
Meeting closed at 15:30 hours.

President’s Report 2014
To all members of West Gippsland Veterans I would like to say a big than-you for your support over the last 12 months. Not only have you supported me but also you have supported our zone and that is why we are regarded as a very strong zone.
You have only got to see the members of our zone when any on the special events the V.V.G.A. hold it doesn’t matter how far away. You will always see our members participating. I have had 3 years as your president and have enjoyed all of them. But now is time for someone else to step up and do the job.
We also gain a new club this year named Berwick- Montuna. In 2015 they officially have their monthly competition.
In conclusion I would like to thank the entire executive and also to the Parmaker and the Martin Clements who are our major sponsors.
Thank you
Brian Jones

Thanks to all the Delegates for your terrific support during the year. Your efforts have been most appreciated and I suspect that most members don’t know the extent of work that goes into the running of an event at your club. Delegates have to organise starters, catering, course set-up, nearest the pins etc. and I am very relieved every time that we have an event at just how well everything comes together. Thanks to all those helpers who assist the delegates as well.
I would also like to thank President Spike Jones, Captain Earl Lansdown, , Sec Bill Estrada Councillor VVGA George Thorne and the rest of the committee for their valued support throughout the year.
We have approximately $4510 in our account at the end of our financial year (our financial year ends on 18th. November each year). If you have any queries about our finances please feel free to ask.
It has been an absolute pleasure to have served as your Treasurer over the few years, the experience has been very rewarding.
